Thanks to its pretty spot on location in Central America, Mexico is of course a popular tourist destination which boasts plenty of sunshine, a captivating culture and plenty of things to see and do. One of its biggest draws though has to be its fantastic beaches which draw sun-worshippers, surfers and beach bunnies from all over the world.
With 5,800 miles of coastline, that means that there are definitely plenty of beaches to choose from! To help you get inspired for your next trip to Mexico, here we’re going to showcase some of the most popular in the whole of the Latin American country.
Playa Maroma, Cancún
Whether you have already been to Mexico before on not, no doubt you’ll have heard of Cancún, which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Mexico thanks to its fantastic beaches which feature vast soft sands and sparklingly clear blue waters. Amongst these fabulous beaches, the Playa Maroma stands out as one of the finest examples of the beaches typical of the area. With incredibly fine sands, and serene crystalline waters, this is a wonderful place to start when exploring the lovely beaches of the area.
Playa del Amor, Cabo San Lucas
The romantically named Playa del Amor, which translates into English as Lover’s Beach, is located in the tourist haven of Cabo San Lucas, and is probably the best known beach of the town which is at the pinnacle of a peninsula. With an imposing rock formation, this beach is perhaps best for lounging around and dipping your toes rather than swimming though, since there are strong Pacific currents.
For secluded beaches nestled along 2 separate bays, Manzanillo is a tranquil spot to enjoy some sun, sea and sand. In the more prominent bay Bahía de Manzanillo, discover several beaches you can explore as well as a wharf and a boardwalk. But if it’s a more laidback vibe that you’re after, then head to Bahía de Santiago, the smaller of the two bays, to discover peaceful sandy beaches that boast amazing spots to watch the sun go down.
Playa Paraíso, Tulum
Appropriately named Paradise Beach, this is a great place to take in some sun as well as experience some of the country’s rich history. With the ruins of an imposing Mayan temple overlooking the sands, this beach boasts one of the best experiences in Mexico. Get up early and enjoy the sunrise over the temple and to beat the locals. With palms and rugged cliffs surrounding the beach, the turquoise waters and white sands can only add to its charm.
So don’t forget your beach towel and swimsuit on a trip to Mexico – you’re going to be spending a lot of time exploring its fantastic beaches!
